"Fibonacci Series"

Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician, born about 1170. Besides introducing Hindu-Arabic numbers to Europe, he discovered a series of numbers now known as the Fibonacci series:
1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89 144 and so on,
each number is the sum of the previous two;
1+1=2
1+2=3
2+3=5
3+5=8
These numbers are to be found in nature,
in the double spirals of pine cones, pineapples, in the arrangement of spines on cacti, and palm fronds on palm trees, in caulifowers, cabbages, brussels: why nauture is so fond of these numbers is a mystery to me.

In this painting I have used 8 clockwise spirals and 13 anti-clockwise.
